Vintage Persol 802 Ratti aviator sunglasses c 1983 feature 3 separate mineral glass lenses and the famous Persol Meflecto system is one of the most recognizable styles among any vintage Persol sunglasses. The Persol Meflecto system noted by the 2 metal cylinders imbedded in the ear stems of the Persol 802 gives them flex and lets the frame mold itself to the shape of the wearer’s face. The Meflecto system involves inserting small cylinders into the acetate arm to give it flexibility, a craft manufacturing process exclusive to Persol and unrivaled even today to provide optimal fit. Persol 802 sunglasses are a unique interpretation of aviator sunglasses, with a beautiful Italian tortoise shell frame and that distinctive third lens at the nose bridge that's sure to generate questions and compliments. The unisex Persol Ratti 802 frame measures approximately 5.5" temple to temple, and the lenses measure approximately 2.375" x 2.0" at the widest points with both lenses laser etched with the round Persol trademark. The inside of one stem is marked Persol 802 while the inside of the other stem is marked 137 24 Ratti Made in Italy.
