1 Vintage Ray-Ban W1909 Diamond Hard sunglasses from the Survivors Collection c early 1990s are one of the most beautiful and elegant designs Bausch & Lomb ever produced during their 60 years of stewardship of the Ray-Ban brand. You get the distinctive 24k gold plated and intricate pinpoint etching of the Ray-Ban W1909 Arista frame, but the real stars of the show are the highly reflective B&L Ray-Ban B-15 Diamond Hard gold mirror lenses. The Ray-Ban Diamond Hard scratch protection system creates a lens surface of amorphous diamond that is 10 times more resistant to scratching than ordinary glass that also sheds water, reducing water spotting and making the lens easier to clean. The diamond surface is permanently bonded to the lens via an ion process which was originally developed by NASA for the US space program. The oval B-15 Diamond Hard lenses measure approximately 1.875" x 1.5" at the widest points with right lens laser etched Ray-Ban along with the diamond trademark of the Ray-Ban Diamond Hard lens and both lenses laser etched BL near the hinges. The unisex Ray-Ban W1909 Arista frame measures approximately 5.0" temple to temple with rear of the nose bridge impressed B&L Ray-Ban USA and on some production one ear pad impressed W1909 XYAS, part of a fine collection of rare vintage Ray-Ban sunglasses from a well known European sports figure and long time customer of the Vintage Sunglasses Shop.
