Ray-Ban L1717 CATS 2000 Sunglasses
1 Vintage Ray-Ban L1717 CATS 2000 sunglasses feature the high performance matte composite CATS frame, but this variation also has Bausch & Lomb G-15 mineral glass lenses pioneered for us by pilot aviators in the military. This series of CATS frames were produced by Bausch & Lomb in France, developing some joint production innovations working with Vuarnet to create the high performance of the CATS line. Ray-Ban G-15 neutral gray lenses transmit all colors equally so they retain their true values, providing 85% visible light absorption and 100% UV protection. Bausch & Lomb developed the G-15 in 1951 as a "neutral" sunglass lens, using a technology developed for Navy fighter pilots that mimics how the human eye reads color. While providing 100% UV protection, the G-15 renders colors true and easy on the eye. The unisex Ray-Ban L1717 CATS 2000 frame measures approximately 5.375" temple to temple, and the lenses measure approximately 2.125" x 1.75" at the widest points with right lens laser etched Ray-Ban and both lenses laser etched BL near the hinges. You'll find the Ray-Ban logo on the exterior of both ear stems, and the inside of one stem is impressed Bausch & Lomb while the inside of the other stem is impressed Frame France along with the French crown trademark.
