American Optical AO 72 Leather Steampunk Goggles
Vintage American Optical AO 72 steampunk goggles are so early and in such amazing condition that we are very tempted to conclude that they are in fact unworn new old stock stored somewhere long ago for many, many years as they are as mint as anything this old will ever be without being fakes. And these are no fakes, that's for sure. The only flaws you see are some minor cracking in the leather, a bit of oxidation in places that can be removed if you so choose but we wouldn't, and 1 very small area where the original plastic shooter ear stem cover has a very tiny crack which you could glue back to be invisible if you so desired but again we wouldn't. It's behind the ear so you'll never see it or notice it, but do be forewarned that the plastic ear stem covers have become somewhat brittle over 80-90 years so eventually you may need to replace them with rubber covers if you want to wear them regularly. It's one of the few things you can do while retaining total authenticity. Anyway, there's not much to say other than enjoy the pictures, and they come in the original metal case all properly marked with AO impressed marks and the moniker on the front "WEAR THESE GOGGLES PROTECT YOUR EYES". The unisex American Optical AO 72 frame measures approximately 5.5" temple to temple, and the green mineral glass lenses measure approximately 2.0" in diameter with both etched at the top center with the very early American Optical mark. The rear of the nose bridge is impressed AO.CO.72. Very rare especially in this condition and likely the finest remaining example of this iconic style of American Optical leather goggles in the world. Includes googles and metal case.
