Vintage Ray-Ban L1705 Tortuga Outdoorsman sunglasses from the top of the line Upscale Metals collection c early 1990s feature Bausch & Lomb 58mm B-15 mineral glass lenses and a rare Tortuga front frame and brow bar designed to improve the balance of the sunglasses on the face and popularlized by General Douglas MacArthur in the Philippines. Ray-Ban B-15 high contrast brown lenses screen out blue light to improve contrast and sharpen details, providing 85% visible light absorption and 100% UV protection - not to mention they look great with the gold plating and Tortuga brow bar. The unisex Ray-Ban L1705 Tortuga Outdoorsman frame measures approximately 5.375" temple to temple, and the brown B-15 lenses measure approximately 2.375" x 2.0" at the widest points with right lens laser etched Ray-Ban and both lenses laser etched BL near the hinges. The top of the nose bridge is impressed B&L Ray-Ban USA while the bottom of the bridge is impressed B&L Ray-Ban 58 [] 14 and on some production one ear pad is impressed L1705 VPAS, part of a great collection of vintage Ray-Bans in Mailbu, CA.
