Vintage Carrera Porsche Design 5623 sunglasses feature the classic matte black Austrian frame, but in this set you'll get a very rare set of Porsche Design silver mirror lenses along with a second set of either rose brown gradient (shown) or brown gradient lenses. Carrera produced mirrored lenses for iconic Porsche Design 5621 and 5623 sunglasses in only very small quantities and mostly only as a special order from a higher end store to Carrera. Mirrored finishes proved hard to do on optyl lenses, the revolutionary plastic that made oversized Carrera Porsche Design 5621 and 5623 sunglasses lightweight enough to be feasible. The 2 sets of lenses give you 2 completely different looks in one pair of sunglasses, and you can carry them around in the included black Carrera case with inner felt pouch to store the spare lenses. The center hinge raises to allow the lenses to be removed and inserted into small prongs on the frame, still a revolutionary design innovation even today! The unisex frame Porsche Carrera 5623 frame measures approximately 5.675" temple to temple, and the lenses measure approximately 2.75" x 2.25" at the widest points. The inside of one stem is marked Made in Austria 5623 along with the impressed serial number while the inside of the other stem is marked Carrera Porsche Design along with the PD logo and US patent number.
