Vintage Carrera Porsche Design 5621 sunglasses feature an all gold Carrera Austrian frame and rare Porsche Design green-purple mirror and green gradient lenses, a very unique and hard to find color combination. Carrera made Porsche Design mirrored lenses in only very small quantities, mostly as a special order from eyewear boutiques in the mid to late 1980s, and here the flash mirror effect allows modest light penetration while picking up incredible colors of green and purple in the reflective flash mirror finish. In addition to the green - purple mirror lens set you'll also get a second set of green gradient lenses giving you 2 distinct looks in one pair of sunglasses - the feature people really love about vintage Carrera Porsche Design interchangeable lens sunglasses. The center hinge on these Carrera 5621 sunglasses raises to allow the current set of lenses to be removed and the other set of lenses inserted into small prongs on the frame and clamped down with the center hinge. Carrera revolutionized sunglass design with the Porsche Carrera line in the 1980s, introducing optyl as a lens material which was much lighter than glass and thus allowed for larger frame sizes. The early Austrian Carrera 5621 gold plated frame measures approximately 5.75" temple to temple with PD lenses measuring approximately 2.75" x 2.25" at the widest points. Both sets of interchangeable lenses are marked Porsche Design, and the inside of one ear stem is marked a faded Carrera Porsche Design while the inside of the other stem is impressed with the serial number plus a faded Made in Austria 5621.
