Persol 853 Carol Yellow Tortoise Sunglasses
Vintage Persol 853 Carol sunglasse feature a beautiful tortoise shell frame with many different color variations along with a unique and eye catching shape, an exclusive Persol design promoted by the actress Carol Alt c 1980s. Carol Alt got her first big break in modeling in 1979 when she was featured on the cover of Harper's Bazaar magazine, but she became a superstar in 1982 when she was featured on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and subsequently on over 500 magazine covers becoming one of the most famous models of her era. Alt graced the covers of Vogue, Mademoiselle, Elle, and Cosmopolitan among many others. Persol's partnership with Alt was the first time one of the company's styles had become so closely associated with an individual, even more so than Persol 714 sunglasses and the actor Steve McQueen. The unisex Persol 853 frame measures approximately 5.5" temple to temple, and the brown mineral glass lenses measure approximately 2.0" x 1.5" at the widest points with both lenses laser etched with the round Persol trademark. You'll find the distinctive Persol arrow point hinges on the exterior of both ear stems, and the inside of one stem is marked Persol 853 Carol 54 [] 16 while the inside of the other stem is marked 137 52 Persol Italy.
