Vintage Gargoyles Kitty Hawk sunglasses date to the early days of Gargoyles sunglasses introduced into the US market, a unique interpretation of classic aviator sunglasses but with that unmistakable Gargoyles design flair. Gargoyles introduced this oversized aviator along the same design principles as Carrera Porsche Design from about this same period, with larger aviator styles made possible for the first time with advanced optyl lenses that were both optically outstanding and lightweight to permit larger sizes. The unisex Gargoyles Kitty Hawk frame measures approximately 5.675" temple to temple, and the lenses measure approximately 2.5" x 2.125" at the widest points. You'll find the Gargoyles logo imipressed at the center nose bridge and on the exterior of both ear stems, and the inside of one stem is marked Hand Made Frame Mexico while the inside of the other stem is marked Gargoyles Kitty Hawk Gold. These are new old stock Gargoyles Kitty Hawk sunglasses in mint, unworn condition with original case and box from a defunct 1990s optical shop in Los Angeles, CA.
