Vintage Carrera Porsche Design 5623 90 sunglasses feature the sleek, high performance matte black composite frame along with interchangeable Porsche Carrera blue mirror and dark gray lenses. The blue mirror lenses were produced in only very small quantities as a special order from the factory, and while the mirror finish tends not to remain perfect after 30 years the Vintage Sunglasses Shop only sells examples that retain at least 90% of their mirror finish with no effect on vision whatsoever. Carrera Porsche Design sunglasses are an icon of modern sunglasses design, the first style to offer lenses made of optyl, a revolutionary lightweight plastic that still provided superior optical properties analogous to glass. The light weight of Carrera optyl lenses allowed for the first real oversized sunglasses with the introduction of these Carrera Porsche Design sunglasses c mid 1980s. The center hinge raises and lowers to allow these two great sets of lenses to be swapped out, essentially giving you 2 pairs of sunglasses in one and the spare lenses stored in a felt pouch inside the included black Porsche Carrera case. The unisex Carrera Porsche Design 5623 frame measures approximately 5.75" temple to temple, and the lenses measure approximately 2.75" x 2.25" at the widest points with left lenses laser etched Porsche Design along with the PD logo. The inside of one ear stem is marked Porsche Design by Carrera while the inside of the other stem is marked Made in Austria 5623 90 135 along with the unique impressed serial number.
