Vuarnet 089 Brown Skilynx Sunglasses
Vintage Vuarnet 089 sunglasses feature a durable brown French nylon frame in the oversized version of iconic Vuarnet 002 sunglasses, using the same shape as the 002 but about 20% larger to fit those with larger face sizes or who like the oversized sunglasses look of today. The Vuarnet Skilynx lens, worn in 1960 by world champion and Olympic medal winner Jean Vuarnet, is renowned worldwide for allowing the wearer to look at the sun without being dazzled and to improve light levels in hazy or misty weather. Vuarnet also recognized that blue light is responsible for the dazzling effects of strong sunlight and can lead to errors in visual perception and judgement. As such, the interior of the lens also has an anti-reflective blue coating which eliminates annoying reflections off the concave side of the lens. The unisex Vuarnet 089 frame measures approximately 5.75" temple to temple, and the Skilynx lenses measure approximately 2.375" x 1.875" at the widest points with both lenses laser etched with the trademark Vuarnet "V on a Ski". You'll find the Vuarnet PX logo embossed on the exterior of one ear stem and PX Vuarnet on the other, and the inside of one stem is impressed France along with the French crown trademark and marked 089 while the inside of the other stem is impressed Pouilloux.
