Vintage Bausch & Lomb Ray-Ban Chromax Diamond Hard 62mm General sunglasses are one of the rarest of all vintage B&L Ray-Ban designs, only produced directly by Bausch & Lomb as a special order for some very special and exclusive clientele in the 1990s. The pinnacle of B&L lens technology, these brown mineral glass base lenses combine the properties of Chromax and Diamond Hard lenses all set in a 62mm General Deep Groove ultra strong gold plated frame. Bausch & Lomb Chromax lenses which are scientifically formulated to control glare, adding
to driving comfort and reducing eye fatigue. Treated with an advanced
anti-reflection coating, they also cut distracting reflections from
the rear surface of the lenses. B&L Diamond Hard lenses feature a scratch-protection system which creates a lens surface of amorphous diamond that is 10 times more resistant to scratching than ordinary glass. This surface also sheds water, reducing water spotting and making the lens easier to clean. The diamond surface is permanently bonded to the lens via an ion beam process, originally developed by NASA. The unisex 62mm General Deep Groove frame measures approximately 5.75" temple to temple, and the B&L Chromax Diamond Hard lenses measure approximately 2.375" x 1.875" at the widest points with both lenses laser etched BL near the hinges and right lens laser etched Ray-Ban along with the Diamond Hard logo. The top of the nose bridge is impressed B&L USA and the inside of one stem is marked B&L USA while the inside of the other stem is marked B&L 3026F 62 [] 14 135. These are new old stock B&L Ray-Ban Chromax Diamond Hard 62mm Generals in mint, unworn condition along with original Chromax Diamond Hard case, part of the collection of a well known TV and movie industry figure and long term customer of the Vintage Sunglasses Shop.
