1 Vintage Persol Ratti 649 V/E sunglasses combine an orange tortoise shell front frame with yellow tortoise shell ear stems, a color contrast that's subtle but really effective and eye catching. It seems only the Italians can make tortoise shell frames with this degree of translucence, and it looks great with the Persol brown mineral glass lenses long admired for their superior optical properties. You'll find the Persol arrow along with the cylinders and pins of the patented Persol Meflecto system on both ear stems, giving them unparalleled flexibility to conform to the contours of the face. The unisex Persol 649 VE frame measures approximately 5.5" temple to temple, and the lenses measure approximately 2.0" x 1.75" at the widest points with both lenses laser etched with the trademark round Persol mark. The inside of one stem is marked Persol Meflecto Ratti and impressed 649 V/E while the inside of the other stem is marked 52 - 72, new old stock Persol Ratti 649 sunglasses in mint, unworn condition from the collection of a well known European business executive and long time customer of the Vintage Sunglasses Shop.

These Persol mineral glass lenses are in this Persol 649 V/E frame produced at the famous Ratti manufacturing facility which unfortunately broke near the nose bridge but retain the original lenses in superb condition. The lenses measure approximately 2.0" x 1.75" at the widest points with both lenses laser etched with the trademark round Persol mark. They should fit any Persol 649 marked Persol Meflecto Ratti from this period - check the marks and measurements on yours - and they will likely also fit more modern versions of the iconic Persol 649. Included is the very early Persol 649 marked leather case c 1970s that alone sells for well over $100.
