Vintage Persol 649 VL sunglasses feature rare blue Persol Neophan mineral glass lenses, a perfect color combination for this 649 frame color and produced in only very small quantities during the golden era of Persol's Ratti factory production. Persol Neophan lenses are instantly recognizable for their subtle blue tint and superior optical properties, and you might remember these lenses as being the ones in the Persol 714 sunglasses worn by Steve McQueen - and you can't get much cooler than that! The light orange color of the 649 VL frame is also rare and unique, a color shade you really only find on a very few select Persol Ratti vintage styles from this era. Persol 649 VL sunglasses also feature the patented Persol Meflecto system whose flexibility derives from the introduction of metal cylinders intersected by a stainless steel core in the ear stems providing comfort and adaptability to any face. The unisex Persol Ratti 649 frame measures approximately 5.25" temple to temple, and the lenses measure approximately " x " at the widest points with both lenses laser etched with the trademark indicating Ratti Neophan lenses. You'll find the metal Persol arrow in metal on the exterior of both ear stems at the hinges, and the inside of one stem is marked Persol Meflecto Ratti and impressed 649 VL while the inside of the other stem is marked Made in Italy 48 - 70.
