1 Vintage B&L Bausch & Lomb 12k GF Ful Vue P-3 Rounds Outdoorsman sunglasses c 1940s were one of the very earliest styles ever produced by Bausch & Lomb, an intricately etched gold frame that looks great with the equally early B&L G-15 mineral glass lenses, the earliest version of this iconic lens that's just slightly darker than later generations from the mid 1950s and thereafter. You can't beat the quality of these early B&L12k gold filled Ful Vue shooters (much rarer than those with regular paddle ear stems), where Ful Vue refers to the hinge blocks being mounted higher on the frame so as to not spoil peripheral vision and the 12k GF refers to the fact that 1/10 of the metal in the frame is 12k gold and of course all on the exterior plating. Note the intricate and precise etching that evokes workmanship you just don't see today, extending across the entire front frame and nose bridge and down both gold plated ear stems. The unisex 12k GF Ful Vue frame measures approximately 4.65" temple to temple, and the lenses measure approximately 1.675" x 1.5" at the widest points. The rear of the nose bridge is impressed B&L 1/10 12k GF Ful Vue and on some production the gold plated ear stems are also impressed B&L 1/10 12k GF. Rare.

2 If you prefer a slightly smaller size, Bausch & Lomb also made these 12k GF Ful Vue P-3 Rounds sunglasses c 1940s in a 42mm size versus the 44mm in option 1. The size difference is subtle, with 12k gold filled frame measuring approximately 4.5" temple to temple and lenses measuring approximately 1.675" x 1.375" at the widest points.They are identical in appearance and impressed B&L 1/10 12k GF Ful Vue on the rear of the nose bridge. Rare.
