1 Vintage Ray-Ban W1740 Chromax Sport Series 3 sunglasses were one of the original wrap style sports sunglasses, pre-dating similar styles by Oakley that came later and combining the high performance frame with Bausch & Lomb G-20 Chromax lenses. Bausch & Lomb Chromax lenses are scientifically formulated to control glare, adding
to driving comfort and reducing eye fatigue. These B&L G-20 Chromax lenses are formulated with Neodymium, a rare earth element, to enhance red, green, and amber colors which is important for fast reaction sports such as tennis or racing. Treated with an advanced
anti-reflection coating, they also cut distracting reflections from
the rear surface of the lenses. The W1740 Sport Series 3 frame is elongated and wrapped, designed to contour more closely to your face and give you particularly good side protection and accommodation for larger face sizes. The unisex Ray-Ban W1740 Sport Series 3 frame measures approximately 6.0" temple to temple, and the lenses measure approximately 2.375" x 1.5" at the widest points with right lens laser etched Ray-Ban along with the Chromax trademark lightning bolt and both lenses laser etched BL near the hinges. You'll find the Ray-Ban logo embossed on the exterior of both ear stems, and you'll appreciate the adjustable ear pads that release from a clip to wrap securely around your ear for active situations. The inside of one stem is marked B&L Ray-Ban USA while the inside of the other stem is marked Sport Series 3 and one ear pad is impressed W1740 WUAO.
