Ray-Ban Arista Round RB-50 Commemorative Sunglasses
Vintage Ray-Ban Arista Round sunglasses feature Bausch & Lomb RB-50 lenses in one of the rarest of any B&L Ray-Ban ever produced - in fact, a handmade pair that was 1 of only 100 ever produced. These were made to commemorate the opening of the Bausch & Lomb Waterford plant on October 25, 1991 in a limited edition of 100, complete with a real leather B&L Ray-Ban case and commemorative felt lined wood box. The original paperwork is included and reads "This hand-made Ray-Ban Sunglass is one of a limited series of 100 issued to commemorate the dedication of the Bausch & Lomb Waterford new Sunglass Plant on October 25th 1991. B&L Ray-Ban RB-50 lenses were always state of the art at Bausch & Lomb, a general purpose specialty lens for moderate to extreme glare conditions. The light absorption ranges from 80% to 90% and can extend to 95% under cold, bright conditions to make it excellent for skiing and other high glare snow sports. They provide 100% untraviolet protection and filter out scattered blue light to enhance contrast and sharpen details with true color recognition. The rear of the lens has an exclusive, anti-reflective coating that reduces back glare and sunburn problems associated with some mirrored lenses. The unisex Ray-Ban Arista frame has the distinctive Arista etching and measures approximately 5.0" temple to temple, and the lenses measure approximately 1.875" x 1.75" at the widest points with right lens laser etched Ray-Ban 50 and both lenses laser etched BL near the hinges. The rear of the gold plated nose bridge is impressed B&L Ray-Ban USA, new old stock B&L Ray-Ban Arista Round RB-50 commemorative sunglasses in mint, unworn condition with original paperwork and commemorative wooden box. Very rare.
