American Optical Ful Vue 12k GF Kalichrome Shooter Sunglasses
1 Vintage American Optical Ful Vue 12k gold filled Kalichrome shooters were first popularized by hunters and shooters who valued the amazing visual acuity made possible by the yellow Kalichrome lenses of these early AO sunglasses. If you've never looked through vintage Kalichrome yellow lenses, you'll be amazed by the sharpness and visual acuity that's enhanced by these innovative mineral glass lenses especially in haze and low light conditions. During the years preceding World War II and immediately thereafter, Bausch & Lomb and American Optical had shared production and cross licensing agreements which is why you may recognize the similarities between these AO Kalichrome 12k gold filled shooters and the analogous Kalichrome shooter sunglasses made in larger quantities by B&L Ray-Ban. This is a very early style c 1930s - 1940s with real bakelite brow bar and the earliest production Kalichrome C yellow lenses. The unisex American Optical Ful Vue shooter frame measures approximately 5.375" temple to temple, and the lenses measure approximately 2.375" x 2.0" at the widest points. The inside of both ear stems is impressed AO 1/10 12k GF and the bottom of the nose bridge is marked Ful Vue AO 1/10 12k GF, all impressed in the gold plating. Rare.
