Persol 009 Tortoise Shell Sunglasses
1 Vintage Persol 009 sunglasses are one of the most distinctive of all vintage Persol styles, featuring glass side shields on each side that will give you unparalleled eye protection from the sides and the Persol Meflecto system for unprecedented flexibility and fit. The Persol 009 tortoise shell frame has the translucence you'd expect in vintage Persol Italian sunglasses, and the 009 incorporates 4 brass cylinders (you can't get better than that) into each ear stem forming the patented Persol Meflecto system that gives flex to the stems and allows for the most perfect fit possible. The unisex Persol 009 frame was made at the famous Ratti manufacturing facility reserved for their top quality production and measures approximately 5.5" temple to temple, and the lenses measure approximately 2.125" x 1.675" at the widest points with both lenses laser etched with the round Persol trademark. The inside of one stem is marked Persol Meflecto Ratti and impressed 009 while the inside of the other stem is marked Made in Italy.

2 Around 1993, Persol changed their method of marking the Persol 009 to include size information on the frame. Identical in size, shape, and appearance to those pictured below, the only difference is the way the inside of the ear stems are marked. One stem is marked Persol 009 57 [] 16 while the inside of the other stem is marked Persol Made in Italy CE or 122 24 Persol Italy. Identical aside from the marking convention these also feature the 4 pin Meflecto system and the round Persol mark on the upper outside corners of the Persol mineral glass lenses.
