1950s French Cat Eye Color Swirls Sunglasses
A top example of mid-century 1950s cat eye sunglasses, these vintage French cat eye sunglasses are a real color explosion at the temples. The color swirls at the left and right corners are soft and iridescent, with hues of shimmering iridescent pink, blue, and gold reminiscent of Tiffany Favrile glass. In a striking design, the color swaths swirl toward the nose, progressively narrowing until only the inner gold band continues on around the entire perimeter of the cat eye shape of the left and right lens. These colors are well highlighted against the black base color of the frame and the dark, smoky lens color. These vintage French cat eye sunglasses also have a subtly curved shape for easy wearing contoured to the face, and we like how the corners turn back a bit more dramatically to accent the cat eye design. Each lens measures approximately 2.0" x 1.25" at the widest point, while the frame measures 5.75" temple to temple. One ear stem is marked Made in France, impressed in the frame.
